The danish classical guitarist Jørgen Bjørslev (born 1953) studied with the internationally recognized Lars Trier and Per Olof Johnson at the music academies of Esbjerg and Copenhagen. His solo debút was done in 1982.
Jørgen Bjørslev has given many concerts in Denmark and abroad both as soloist and as chamber musician. He appears on radio and TV and has brought out more records. In addition to this he has given masterclasses at international festivals and music academies.
In 1980 he was appointed docent at the Academy of Music in Esbjerg, now the Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts, Southern Denmark, serving as vice-principal 1985-1991.
He is director of the first (and therefore the oldest) annual guitarfestival in Denmark, the ”International Sønderho Guitarfestival”, which in 2010 celebrated it´s 25th anniversary.
Many of the world´s very best guitarists have performed here during the years.
Bjørslev furthermore performs on the baroque guitar, and also as folk-blues-and jazzguitarist and singer.
